Exchange accounts not fetching transactions for inactive currencies

    Jevon Wright · 0 · Posted

Two exchanges (Binance and Bitfinex) do not have a single API endpoint to download all transactions in your account.

We cannot request every currency or exchange pair supported by the exchange, either: this could take hours (or days) to fetch.

As a compromise, we try to intelligently select only "active" currencies for importing your transactions from these exchanges.

For an account, we define an active currency as a currency which:

    • Has a non-zero balance, or
    • Is one of your reporting currencies.

If you have added an exchange account, and it is not fetching transactions in a currency because the current

  • Is there a risk when sharing xpub keys?

    Jevon Wright · 0 · Posted

For ease-of-use, CryptFolio supports tracking xpub (extended public key) addresses, which are long strings starting with "xpub". These keys allow CryptFolio to track all of your addresses, without you having to export and import them manually into the platform.

However, please be aware that providing your third party to any third party (including CryptFolio) can introduce additional risks.

Theoretically, by sharing your extended public key (xpub), the recipient can obtain all of your current – and future – wallet public keys and addresses, and identify and view all of your historical transactions. This can have privacy implications, if you are

  • How do I upload a new CSV file?

    Jevon Wright · 0 · Posted

To upload a new CSV file to a CryptFolio account, follow these four steps:

    1. Create a new Fixed Amount account (you can also add any other type of non-automatic account)

    2. In the Configure page for that portfolio, open the account page by clicking Import transactions.

    3. Click on the Import Transactions button to upload a new file.

    4. Select the CSV file to upload, and click Upload Transactions.

If your uploaded CSV fails to import, it may be because we haven't yet implemented support for that CSV file – please let us know so we can add it.

Why are my portfolio balances out of date?

    Jevon Wright · 0 · Posted

When you are adding or removing accounts, transactions or integrations, your portfolio balances may become out of date. As a result, your charts and reports may not match the balances and transactions listed in your accounts.

CryptFolio does not automatically calculate your portfolio balances and histories on demand – as for users with thousands of accounts or addresses, this would be too slow. Rather, your balances and charts are updated regularly in the background by one of our job servers.

If, at any time, your portfolio charts appear to be out of date or incorrect, you can always force the

    Kiwi-Coin integration sometimes returns Unauthorized

Jevon Wright · 1 · Last reply by Mark Barlow

We are aware of an issue with Kiwi-Coin API integration where your valid API key/secret may fail to work and return the error Unauthorized. Unfortunately this is an issue on the Kiwi-Coin side, and to date we've not been able to work around this issue.

You may be able to resolve this issue by creating a new API key and secret, and adding this to your portfolio.

Alternatively, you are also able to import your Kiwi-Coin transactions directly through CSV.

    Binance duplicate "Transfer" transaction

Robot · 2 · Last reply by Jevon Wright

I am using the Binance API and it seems to be duplicating a "transfer" transaction in my inventory. So far I have only noticed this for one coin, but I see two transactions with the same:

    • Reference
    • Amount
    • Timestamp

I have tried deleting the transactions and doing an update, but the duplicates come back.

  • How are market average rates calculated?

    Jevon Wright · 0 · Posted

Our market average rates are calculated for each pair of currencies that has five or more active exchanges trading that pair. The average is selected as a simple mean; we do not perform any trade volume weighting.

If an exchange pair is from a deprecated exchange, then we will only use the rates from that exchange up to its defined deprecation date.

  • How FIFO reports are calculated

    Jevon Wright · 0 · Posted

First-in-first-out (FIFO) inventory reporting is based on the principle that you have an inventory of a product, and each item of your inventory has an associated price (how much that item cost you). When you sell an inventory item, you use the earliest unsold inventory item to calculate the increase or decrease in value.

CryptFolio provides a FIFO report to help you complete end-of-year tax returns for countries and situations where you are treating cryptocurrency as inventory. The FIFO report for a particular currency can be accessed through your Inventory reports, and is broken up into three sections.

The Inventory report displays a list of all of the transactions used in your other inventory reports (such as FIFO) in chronological order. This is so you can review your historical transactions and their values, and check that everything has been calculated appropriately.

Currently CryptFolio only supports a single inventory method (FIFO), but in the future we will support other inventory calculation methods. From the Inventory report you can access your Balances report or the FIFO report for your portfolio.

For each of your portfolios, CryptFolio provides you with a balance and inventory view of all of your currencies.

For each of the reporting currencies and non-zero currencies in your portfolio, CryptFolio calculates two values for the currency: your balance, and your inventory.

    Accessing your balances

Visit the portfolio that you wish to view the balances for, and click on the Balances link in the top right of your portfolio.

    Balance

The balance for a currency is the sum of all of the balances in each of your portfolio accounts.

This table displays the latest balances for each currency in your portfolio, and the value of those balances in a particular currency. This includes all currencies that have a non-zero balance in your portfolio – not just your reporting currencies.

For each account, address and offset in your portfolio, the balances, history and transactions are summed up for each currency into a balance for that currency. The value of that balance is then calculated for right now, and for one week ago. This weekly change of the value is also included.
