  • Can anyone ever access my funds?

    Not through CryptFolio.

Because the only data that you provide to CryptFolio are public addresses, and read-only APIs, it should not be possible for anyone to perform any trade or transaction with any of your currencies - as long as your account providers maintain their security as well.

    What does "read-only" mean?

Jevon Wright · 1 · Last reply by Pawan kumar gupta

On CryptFolio, we only support addresses, account and APIs that permit read-only functionality.

Read-only means that with all of the data that you provide to CryptFolio, it should not be possible for anyone to perform any trade, transaction, or withdrawal with any of your currencies - as long as your account providers maintain their security as well.

This also means that in the unlikely case of somebody gaining access to your account, they won't be able to use the information you provide in CryptFolio to make any trade, transaction, or withdrawal.

Why does CryptFolio not support trading?

    Jevon Wright · 0 · Posted

The main CryptFolio platform is not designed to support trading within the app; this is a strategic decision.

If we were to support any form of automated trading, we would need to comply with many more international laws and regulations:

    1. Under New Zealand law we would have to register as a Financial Service Provider;
    2. We would need to register under similar acts and regulations within each international market; and
    3. As a user, you would need to submit AML/KYC documentation for every CryptFolio account.

We would also need to stop following our read-only API policy, which could expose your portfolio to

  • Supported External API formats

    Jevon Wright · 0 · Posted

CryptFolio supports External APIs (also known as Generic APIs) that list balances.

The URL for the External API must be accessible over HTTP or HTTPS. If HTTPS, then the SSL certificate must be valid.

The reported balances need to be in one of these formats:

    • A single number - the default currency for that API will be used
      • balances-text.txt example
    • A JSON file with a hash of "currency": "balance"
      • balances-json.json example
    • A JSON file with an array of { currency, balance/value } keys
      • balances-json2.json example
    • A CSV file with headers of "balance/value" and "currency"

This line chart displays the historical balances of each currency in your portfolio, for a given period. This includes all currencies, not just your reporting currencies, before any conversions.

For each account, address and offset in your portfolio, the balances, history and transactions are summed up for each currency.

If you are looking for a table displaying only the latest balances for each currency, consider the Portfolio Balances table. If you are looking for the historical account balances for a single currency, consider the Balance Composition chart. If you are looking for the converted value of each currency, look at

CryptFolio supports uploading a CSV, JSON or plain text file of addresses (optionally with labels) to your portfolio. Each of the addresses in the file you upload will be added to your portfolio, and the balances and transactions tracked.

The exact process for exporting a list of addresses depends on the wallet software, hardware and/or operating system.
