Transaction types and balance reports

This week we have been making further progress on our upcoming tax reporting tools.

You can now categorise transactions to one of three transaction types: transfer, sale, and purchase. Both our API workers and CSV imports will try to work out the transaction types for your transactions automatically, but you can change the transaction type for any transaction manually:

Transactions now also have a new Comment field, which is available for you to use to store any sort of information about the transaction – for example, what the transaction was for, who the other party was, and/or any other information that might be useful for your accountant when reconciling your accounts.

Portfolios now also have a Balances page, which lists the latest balances for each currency in your portfolio, across all of your accounts. You can access this page by clicking on "Browse Balances" on your Configure Portfolio page:

Finally, we have released the first versions of our inventory and FIFO reports. These tools are not yet complete, and the interface will be going through further iterations, but you can already generate a FIFO report for each cryptocurrency, and view your realised and unrealised gains. You can access these tools through the Inventory links in your Balances page.

Once ready, we'll be developing a rich set of guides and tutorials on how to produce and configure these reports. In the meantime, you're welcome to try them out and let us know what you think!
