Transaction groups and related transactions

Today we have released an update to make it easier to categorise and link together transactions.

We have removed the previous concept of Transaction Links, because we found that this was slowing down CSV and feed imports for large portfolios, as we would have to search over ALL transactions in your portfolio in order to find a link. Links were also directed, which could cause transactions to have transaction link cycles.

We have instead added the ability to create Transaction Groups. You can now add transactions to any number of groups, and the groups can have custom names. For example, two Purchase and Sale transactions can be grouped together as a single Transaction Group, making it easier to browse your portfolio transactions.

For most CSV and feed imports, we will automatically create transaction groups for associated transactions. Any transactions within a transaction group will have a "link" icon next to its reference.

As part of Transaction Groups, we've also improved the interface to identify transactions to add to groups. When Editing a transaction group, you can filter transactions by type, currency, and with a search string.

We have also added a new section to every transaction page, Related Transactions, which uses the same logic as before to suggest transactions that might be related to another transaction.

That is, for account transactions, transactions belonging to the same account, that have the same reference, similar values (less fees), and similar dates (within 5 minutes); and for address transactions, transactions belonging to any address, that have the same reference, similar values (less fees), and similar dates (within 24 hours).

To access these new features, visit your list of Transactions, and open up any of your transactions in your Portfolio.
